I love blogging and can't wait to incorporate it into my classroom. We have a family blog that we post pictures of our daughters and communicate with family (we have a lot of family that live out of state so it is a great way to keep in touch!). I believe that my first attempt with blogging in the classroom will be to have students answer some critical thinking questions that don't necessarily have a right or wrong answer. I teach at two different schools so I am excited about the students being able to interact with others from not only a different grade, but also a different school.
My biggest concerns are keeping up with it... I struggle sometimes to update my own personal family blog, let alone keeping up with a blog that several students are posting on. I do have the controls set up so that the posting has to come through me first so that I can check for any inappropriate responses before they are posted for the group to see. My hope is that after practicing with blogging the students will quickly learn manners for blogging. I also want to figure out a way to allow those that don't have access to the internet the opportunity to contribute without disrupting classtime.
